A seventh-grader helped Joe Hammond get his first win as a head coach Thursday night.
Byanca Powell scored 21 points as the Fort Knox Lady Eagles topped Kentucky Country Day, 48-38 to give Hammond victory No. 1.
“It wasn’t a bad game,” Hammond said. “They played hard tonight. They played better than they did Monday night when they looked shell-shocked and gun-shy. I’m proud of them. They did a good job tonight.”
Sophomore post Terrionna Jones chipped in with 11 points, while sophomore wing Brenna Stephenson scored five.
