PREP BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Trojans snap losing skid; Meade wins (12/15)

Freshman forward Tony Jackson’s double-double sparked the North Hardin Trojans to a 67-65 win over South Warren on Saturday in the Mike Casey Classic at Shelby County, giving Coach Mike Cofer his first win with the Trojans.

Jackson had 28 points and 12 rebounds, while senior guard Kevon Davis added 18 points and hit one free throw with 12 seconds left to hold off the Spartans.

“It was a relief,” Cofer said. “I’m proud of the guys. They played hard and played together. Good things are to come if they keep playing like that.”

Sophomore forward Will Alexander scored nine and junior post Joseph Freeman had six for the Trojans (1-3).

n On Friday night, visiting Lexington Catholic pulled away for a 69-52 win over the Trojans.

Davis hit 4-of-7 3-pointers and finished with 20 points, three assists and two steals, while Jackson chipped in with 10 points and five rebounds.

Sophomore forward Brandon Maxwell added seven points, six rebounds and two assists.

MEADE COUNTY 49, CAMPBELLSVILLE 45, OT. Sophomore guard Kase Mattingly scored 18 points and the Green Wave (2-1) held off the visiting Eagles (0-3) for their second straight win.

Mattingly also had four steals and four rebounds for Meade County, which held Campbellsville to one point and 0-of-5 shooting from the field in overtime.

Junior guard Will King chipped in with nine points and two assists, while senior forward Charles Mattingly had six points and six rebounds. Junior guard John Wilson scored six for the Green Wave, who led 30-24 going into the fourth quarter.

Senior guard Michael Dial chipped in with 16 points and two steals, while sophomore guard Joshua Jones added 10 points, nine rebounds and two steals.

Junior guard Jaeden Brown scored 10.

Junior guard Addi Lynch chipped in with 13 points and two steals for Meade County, which won its second straight.
