Three area players and six others from the 5th Region are among the 35 boys and 38 girls from across the state who have been selected to try out for the WLKY Kentucky/Indiana Senior All-Star Classic.

Tryouts will be held March 23 and 24 at Georgetown College.

The Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation announced the initial list Wednesday. Invitations will also be issued to Player of the Year selections from each of the state’s 16 regions not on the first list.

“This is the beginning step to formulating to next class of Kentucky All-Stars,” said Kentucky game director Dave Satterly. “We are excited about the level of talent in the Bluegrass State and we look forward to a competitive year of competition versus Indiana.”

North Hardin senior forward Chanel Roberts, the reigning News-Enterprise Girls’ Area Player of the Year, was 1-of-6 girls’ players from the region to earn an invitation.

Earning boys’ invitations were John Hardin point guard Brandon Price and LaRue County point guard Kelton Ford, who shared 5th Region Boys’ Player of the Year honors. Price is the reigning News-Enterprise Boys’ Area Player of the Year.

The others region invitations went to Adair County guard Mercedes Cox, Nelson County post Cierra Drake, Marion County point guard Makayla Epps, Marion County forward Kyvin Goodin-Rogers, Bardstown guard Devonte Grundy and Marion County forward Logan Powell.
