The scholarship offers continue to roll in for John Hardin junior defensive tackle Matt Elam.

After picking up an offer from Western Kentucky last week, the University of Louisville offered Elam on Tuesday, according to John Hardin coach Chad Lewis.

The 6-foot-6, 340-pound Elam received an offer from Kentucky when he attended its junior day Feb. 9 and picked up an offer Feb. 23 from Alabama when he went to its junior day. Elam also was offered by Eastern Kentucky.

The list is expected to grow. Elam is attending Tennessee’s junior day March 16 and plans on going to Florida to see a practice or the team’s spring game.

Elam said Ohio State coaches are supposed to be making a visit to John Hardin soon. He also has been in contact with LSU, Nebraska, Clemson, Georgia, Vanderbilt, Mississippi State and South Carolina.

Elam has stated repeatedly he doesn’t plan to make a decision soon about his college choice. He said he might wait until after his senior season.

“It’s really nice being recruited,” Elam said. “I’m having fun with it right now.”

Elam was the Area Defensive Sophomore of the Year two years ago and the Area Lineman of the Year this season. Elam was a first team Associated Press defensive line selection as a sophomore and he made second team last year.

Former John Hardin coach Mark Brown said he expects Elam to have a stellar senior season and the attention from colleges has only helped him.

“I think he has great potential,” Brown said. “I think it’s helped him work even harder. He’s getting more serious about it. It’s going to do nothing but help him in the long run.”
