PREP ROUNDUP: Pinkham, Panthers drop Knox (05/02)

Junior Zeke Pinkham homered, singled and drove in two runs to lift the Elizabethtown Panthers to a 7-1 win at 17th District foe Fort Knox on Thursday.

Sophomore Hunter Sullivan doubled and tripled, while junior Austin Freyberger singled and doubled. Senior Jon Tarrence singled, doubled and scored twice as the Panthers (16-6, 6-1 district) won for the eighth time in 10 games.

Sophomore Jack Wilson (4-0) struck out four and gave up two hits in two innings of relief.

Sophomore Coltinn Stabler and freshman Devon Vincent each doubled for Fort Knox (1-19, 0-8).

CENTRAL HARDIN 7, GRAYSON COUNTY 4. Sophomore Ean Barker hit a three-run homer in the first and freshman Alex Bibb had a two-run double in the sixth to help the homestanding Bruins (16-8) hold off the Cougars (15-8).

Senior Troy Riggs singled, doubled and drove in two runs, while sophomore Brandt Pawley had two singles and scored three runs.

Junior Luke McCamish (3-0) struck out two and gave up seven hits, three runs and one walk in six innings.

LARUE COUNTY 10, HART COUNTY 0, 5 INNINGS. Senior Brigitte Skaggs was a walk and hit batter away from a perfect game as the host Lady Hawks routed 18th District rival Hart County.

Skaggs (8-4) struck out three and also helped herself at the plate by going 2-for-2 with two RBIs.

Senior Peyton Gardner went 2-for-3 with a double, triple and two RBIs, while junior Sierra Mullins doubled and drove in a run. Senior Courtney Johnson went 3-for-3 with a double and junior Trishtian Cruise had two singles and an RBI.

LaRue County (13-9, 3-3 district) is 5-2 in its last seven games, while Hart County (16-8, 2-3) lost its third straight.

NO. 12 MEADE COUNTY 5, BRECKINRIDGE COUNTY 0. Sophomore Abby Whelan was a homer shy of the cycle as the visiting Lady Waves knocked off 11th District rival Breckinridge County.

Whelan had an RBI double in the first to give Meade County (18-9, 3-0 district) a 2-0 lead.

Junior Neely Rhodes tripled, while sophomores Katie Wilson and Rachel Ayer each doubled.

NELSON COUNTY 10, JOHN HARDIN 2. Freshman Ally Furnish struck out nine and went 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI, but it wasn’t enough for the visiting Lady Bulldogs (5-21), who lost their eighth straight.

Furnish gave up six hits and four walks in six innings.

Sophomore Hayley Mouser and junior Channing Ray each singled for John Hardin.

Nelson County (6-10) won for the second time in three games.
