PREP SOFTBALL: LaRue sweeps doubleheader against Lady Bulldogs (05/13)

The homestanding LaRue County Lady Hawks swept a doubleheader with visiting 5th Region rival John Hardin on Tuesday, winning 16-3 in five innings in Game 2 and 4-3 in 10 innings in Game 1.

n The Lady Hawks (9-12), who were the visiting team in Game 2, scored 15 of their runs in the first two innings and pounded out 14 hits en route to the big win.

Sophomore Valerie Whitlock doubled, singled twice, scored twice, drove in a run and stole a base, while senior Christian Cox doubled, singled, drove in two runs and scored three.

Freshman Brittany Enlow (5-9) struck out four and allowed four hits and two earned runs in the complete game.

Senior Autumn Chancey and sophomore Emily Muir each singled and scored a run for John Hardin (7-21).

Sophomore Olivia Greenwell took the loss.

n Enlow had the game-winning RBI in Game 1, which went to the international tiebreaker.

Freshman Megan Smith scored on a single by Whitlock to tie the game at 3-all, and Enlow walked with the bases loaded for the winning run.

Freshman Amelia Miller (4-3) struck out 11, while allowing nine hits, one earned run and one walk.

Autumn Chancey tripled, singled twice and drove in a run and sophomore Kayla Chancey singled twice.

Senior Jenna Gachassin struck out 11 in the loss.

GRAYSON COUNTY 3, CENTRAL HARDIN 1. Trailing 1-0, the homestanding Lady Cougars scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to send the Lady Bruins (16-9) to their second loss in as many days.

Sophomore Kristina Krupinski (9-7) allowed three hits and one walk in six innings. She struck out one.

Sophomore Jordan Daniel singled and drove in a run.

NO. 9 MEADE COUNTY 2, BULLITT EAST 1. Senior Maris Harreld (16-1) struck out nine as the Lady Waves (25-4) won their eighth straight.

Harreld scattered six hits, one walk and one unearned run in a complete-game effort.

Junior Mallory Wathen doubled, singled and drove in a run, while senior Claire Cannady went 2-for-3.
