PREP SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: Central Hardin crushes Fort Knox; North Hardin, Elizabethtown win in last at-bats (04/16)

The Central Hardin trio of senior Jordan Lasley, sophomore Shelby Maggard and eighth-grader Aubree Muse combined to go 6-for-6 with five extra-base hits, five runs scored and four RBIs Monday as the No. 20 Lady Bruins routed visiting 17th District rival Fort Knox in five innings, 16-0.

Maggard tripled, doubled, drove in two and scored once. Muse tripled, singled, drove in one and scored twice. Lasley had two doubles, two runs scored and one RBI.

Junior Jessica Nall picked up the win for the Lady Bruins (11-3 overall, 1-0 district), striking out two of the three batters she faced.

Senior Bianca Kelley and Christina Rice both singled to account for the two hits for Fort Knox (1-10, 0-1).

NORTH HARDIN 3, GRAYSON COUNTY 2. Freshman Shelby Peace hit a walkoff double to drive in sophomore Cady Wilson in the bottom of the seventh to lift the Trojans (6-10) past the Lady Cougars (6-9).

Wilson had hit a one-out single and was sacrificed to second by sophomore Cassie Ferguson.

Sophomore Lydia Wiseman had an RBI single in the second inning to give North Hardin a 1-0 lead and junior Ashley Vasquez’s RBI single in the third put North Hardin up 2-1.

Sophomore Bailey Blair struck out six, walked three and gave up one single and one double.

ELIZABETHTOWN2, HART COUNTY 1, 8 INNINGS. Eighth-grader Callie Sondergard faced 29 batters and threw an extra-inning no-hitter, plus went 3-for-4 with two doubles and the game-winning RBI as the Lady Panthers (7-7) beat the visiting Lady Raiders (13-4).

Junior Brianna Taylor led off the bottom of the eighth with a single. She stole second and moved to third on a bunt by senior Allison Sherrard. After a walk to eighth-grader Taylor Thomas, Taylor scored on Sondergard’s first-pitch single to center.

Thomas went 2-for-3 with a double, while Sherrard went 2-for-4 with a double.

Sondergard struck out four, walked two and hit one batter.
