The KHSAA State Tennis Tournament draw Monday night turned out to be favorable for some area players and downright cruel to others – especially in the boys’ doubles bracket.
The area earned two seeds for girls, but all three area entries into the boys’ doubles bracket earned first-round matches with seeded duos.
There are seven singles players and five doubles teams from the area – plus four more players with strong area ties – competing in the tournament, which opens Thursday morning in Lexington. The first- and second-round matches for girls are at the University of Kentucky, while the first two rounds for boys are at the Shillito Park Tennis Center.
Area players advancing to Friday morning’s Sweet 16 would play at Kentucky.
