PREP VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: North Hardin Christian falls in KCAA state semis (10/27)

The North Hardin Christian Lady Falcons saw their season come to a close in the KCAA State Volleyball Tournament semifinals Saturday.

The Lady Falcons beat Glasgow Christian, 25-11, 25-21, 25-14 on Friday night, but lost to Somerset Christian, 25-14, 25-11, 25-21 on Saturday.

North Hardin Christian (12-8) has reached the state tournament every year since 1995. The Lady Falcons, which won the Region 2 championship, won state championships in 2007, ’08 and ’09. Their junior varsity team finished as the state runner-up this season.

Sophomore Allison Gray was named to the All-State team, while sophomore Meredith Bowman earned All-Tournament honors.

In the two matches, Gray had 20 digs, 19 kills, three blocks and two assists. Bowman had 18 digs, 10 kills and two aces, while freshman Skye Brown added 13 digs, eight kills and two aces.

Senior Kadie Kimbrough had 38 assists, nine aces, eight digs and two kills and junior Judith Breeze had 18 digs, two aces and one kill. Junior Alysia Smith had 13 digs, 12 kills, five aces and three blocks, while sophomore Eliza Groholski had seven digs and one ace and sophomore Scarlette Kennedy had six digs and one kill.

The Lady Falcons should return all but one player next season as Kimbrough is the lone senior.
