It isn’t often a team enters the gym before the sun rises and doesn’t leave until after it has already set, but the North Hardin Lady Trojans did just that Saturday.
North Hardin played seven matches at the John Hardin Volleybrawl, going 3-4. What started out as a bad day for the Lady Trojans improved as the long day progressed as they took second place in the silver bracket.
“We started off pretty slow. I was expecting to come out of pool play either 3-0 or 2-1, but we started 0-3. Needless to say, we started slow,” North Hardin coach Jessica Gunby said of losses to Bullitt East, Greenwood and Breckinridge County. “When the tournament portion came around, we started to play a little bit better.”
North Hardin (15-17) rebounded with two victories over North Bullitt and one over Louisville Iroquois before falling to Greenwood in the championship match.
Junior setter Amanda Patterson had 61 aces and 13 aces, senior middle hitter Dalani Rainwater had 30 kills, senior middle hitter Tashara Jackson had 12 blocks and senior libero Rose Robidoux had 48 digs.
Junior outside hitter Fantasia Grooms and Rainwater were named to the All-Tournament team.
Results for John Hardin were not available.
