Radcliff Woman’s Club president continued the theme of the general federation of Women’s Clubs Mothers Day bone China Tea by asking members to bring their own tea cups and dessert plats to the May 12 meeting. The ladies came in their Sunday best wearing their Derby hats to enjoy the refreshments served by Betty Hughes-Gillespie, Lois Gray, Lillian Bremerkamp, Florence Mason, Vada Johnson and Patricia Crosby.
Jeannene Shipp, conservation chairman, introduced speaker Martha Mengel who belongs to several clubs and is the president of the Garden Club of Kentucky. Mengel’s theme is “generations gardening together” for children need to be taught to plan flowers and grow trees. She then demonstrated the art of flower design. She explained that floral design was different from flower arrangement because floral design was a work of art.
The Radcliff Woman’s Club meets the second Monday of each month at Colvin Community Center.
