Radcliff City Council awarded a contract to McMichael Construction Co. Inc. of Bardstown last week for a sidewalk project to be conducted on Shelton Road. The bid totaled just more than $41,000.
Planning Director Steve Barno said the project will “fill in the gaps” on the sidewalks in hopes of dissuading residents from walking in the street.
The project is being funded from money held over from a federal transportation enhancement grant, Barno said. The grant, totaling about $487,000, was obtained for a similar project on South Wilson Road, which stretched onto Lincoln Trail Boulevard and Elm Road up to Dixie Boulevard, Barno said.
Enough grant money was left over, he said, to expand the project to Shelton Road. Barno said the money has been listed during the last three budget years.
