A Radcliff man faces charges of attempted rape and sexual abuse after police say he was involved in a domestic violence incident with the mother of his child.
Travis C. Botette, 23, was arrested Saturday night on charges of attempted first-degree rape — domestic violence, first-degree sexual abuse, second-degree unlawful imprisonment and fourth-degree assault — domestic violence and no visible injury.
According to a citation, Botette attempted Saturday night to have sexual intercourse with the victim “against her will by force.”
Botette also subjected the victim to sexual contact though he was told “multiple times to stop,” police said.
During the encounter, police said he struck the woman in the face and used his body weight to hold her on a bed and prevent her from leaving the room.
Bryce Shumate, spokesman for Radcliff Police Department, said Botette and the victim are not married but have a child together.
Botette remains lodged at Hardin County Detention Center. A bond amount had not been set by Monday night.
Attempted first-degree rape is a Class C felony, which is punishable by five to 10 years in prison if found guilty, according to Kentucky Revised Statutes.
