VINE GROVE — A Radcliff man was jailed on an array of charges after a high-speed chase with police Monday afternoon.

Police were on the lookout for 31-year-old Stanley Francis Gruenfelder after a domestic violence incident in Radcliff.

The pursuit began after a Vine Grove officer spotted saw Gruenfelder’s vehicle and attempted to make a stop. He’d just left his children at a Vine Grove residence when the chase began, police said.

Vine Grove Police Capt. Dale Riggs said Gruenfelder raced into Rineyville on Ky. 1600 at speeds of nearly 80 mph. He circled the Rineyville firehouse before taking Rineyville School Road to Fuller Road and then onto a “country road” where he lost control of the Chevy Blazer he was driving — crashing it through a fence and into a tree, ending the pursuit.

Gruenfelder was jailed on charges of wanton endangerment, assault, fleeing police and driving recklessly on a suspended license.

Riggs said police used caution during the pursuit and ensured no children were in Gruenfelder’s vehicle before the chase escalated.

“If they would have been in there, we would have called it off,” Riggs said.
