A McDonald’s location that has been a fixture in Radcliff for nearly 40 years is temporarily closed for extensive remodeling.

The restaurant at 110 S. Dixie Blvd. and Lincoln Trail Boulevard closed July 31 and will undergo a full renovation, according to a news release from McDonald’s.

The location, which has been open since 1974, is pending demolition. Construction is expected to begin mid-August, according to the release.

“Rebuilding the restaurant will allow us to provide better, more efficient service and expanded amenities to our local customers,” owner Jeff Peter said in the statement.

Officials anticipate the doors will reopen in late October or early November. According to the release, the remodeled location will feature “dual drive-through lanes, digital menu boards and a fully updated lobby.”

The kitchen also will be updated to increase efficiency, according to the release.

According to McDonald’s officials, this is not the first time the store has been renovated or expanded.

Peter, who operates three McDonald’s locations in Radcliff, became the franchisee in 1995. His father, Ulric J. Peter, served as franchisee when the store on Dixie Boulevard opened its doors.
