Banks also offer insight for homebuyers Thursday

ELIZABETHTOWN — People in the process of buying or building a house or those who just want to learn more about the process will find what they need at a homebuyers’ seminar this week.

The seminar from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Historic State Theater is sponsored by the Lincoln Trail Homebuilders’ Association and the Heart of Kentucky Association of Realtors.

It is part of the associations’ Buy Now, Build Now marketing campaign, to let people know of the very low interest rates out right now, said Janet Perkins, a Realtor and public relations chairwoman for Heart of Kentucky group.

“You don’t get any better than this basically,” she said.

Community members can learn about different ways of financing a home with the banks that will be present — Kentucky Neighborhood Bank, South Central Bank, First Federal Savings Bank and Fort Knox Federal Credit Union, Perkins said.

Along with financing, attendants can hear from termite companies, appraisers, home inspectors and title companies — anyone that deals with buying or building a new home, she said.

Each company will give a presentation on a topic, said Marsha Booth with Heart of Kentucky. This seminar was a way to give the campaign an educational aspect. “It was a way to bring back enhancement to the community,” she said.

This will be a good time for people to ask questions of local professionals, she said.

Perkins encourages people looking to move to attend, but also people who just want to gain some information about the process of getting a new home.

“It’s a casual atmosphere,” she said.

People can be approved for a loan that day, she said.
