RIASOK Shrine Club sponsors First Annual “Shop With A Shriner”

-A A +A

On Dec. 15, 25 Shriners dawned their fezzes and stood in the foyer of Kohl’s Department Store awaiting the arrival of middle school children in need from Hardin County Schools.

Eighteen children from Hardin County Schools were guided through the aisles choosing items from the shelves and placing them in the push carts while Shriners and their wives from the RIASOK Shrine Club of Elizabethtown looked on with joy in their eyes and hearts.

On behalf of Kosair Charities, Kosair Shrine, Nobles of RIASOK Shrine Club, Ladies of AIRSOK Shrine Club and children who shopped with a Shriner today, we thank the managers and associates of Kohl’s Department store, who assisted this event every step of the way. If an associate spotted a Fez in need, they were there to help. A special thank you to Deborah Jo Edwards from Hardin County Schools who helped us facilitate this event and who walked a group of Shriners through the process and blessed us in so many ways.

RIASOK Shrine Club considers it a badge of honor to have touched the lives of 18 Hardin County children and in some ways easing the burden of their parents worry about bringing a joyous Christmas to the child. While the Christmas gifts are of a more immediate need, it is our hope the children also learned the meaning of giving and community spirit – which is the ethos of all Shriners.
