Richard D. Alvey, 90, of Clarkson, died Saturday, April 28, 2012, at Grayson Manor Nursing Home in Leitchfield.
He was born Oct. 9, 1921. He was a retired mail carrier, lifelong member and deacon of Clarkson Baptist Church, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, an avid fisherman and University of Kentucky basketball fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Conrad and Marguerite VanMeter Alvey.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Alvey; four sons, Richard Lee Alvey of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Conrad E. Alvey of Caneyville, Mark A. Morris (Melisa) of Campbellsville, and Michael W. Alvey (Lynne) of Owensboro; two daughters, Donna G. Vieira (Steve) of Caneyville, and Susan Alvey of Bowling Green; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral is at 11 a.m. CDT Tuesday at Clarkson Baptist Church with Bros. Billy Carter, Arnold Moon and Arland Benningfield officiating. Burial follows in Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation continues at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
Rogers-Oller Funeral Home in Clarkson handled arrangements.
