A Rineyville man accused of leaving the scene of a wreck involving three minors has accepted a guilty plea offer through the county’s rocket docket program and is set to appear Tuesday in Hardin Circuit Court for arraignment.
Clyde E. Puckett, 48, faces three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of intoxicants — third offense, leaving the scene of an accident and second-degree persistent felony offense in connection with the Sept. 21 wreck in Rineyville.
According to court records, Puckett allegedly was driving under the influence Sept. 21 near Cochise Court when his vehicle ran off the roadway and struck a tree stump. Three juveniles were in the vehicle at the time of the wreck.
Puckett allegedly left the juveniles in the custody of a neighbor and fled half a mile away to his residence, according to records.
According to a citation, a Kentucky State Police trooper later found Puckett hiding in the residence and detected the odor of alcohol. Police said Puckett also had fresh wounds on his face and blood on his hands.
Records indicate Puckett was on parole at the time of the wreck.
Puckett has signed an agreement to plead guilty Tuesday in circuit court.
Per that agreement, the commonwealth has recommended a sentence of 13 years with eight to serve followed by five years of probation. The probation would not begin until Puckett is released from custody, according to the agreement.
Puckett remains lodged at Hardin County Detention Center in lieu of a $5,000 cash bond.
