Warning shot fired in Vine Grove business

By Bob White

Surveillance video images of two gunmen who robbed the Highland Avenue Dollar General Store Tuesday night were released Friday afternoon.
According to Vine Grove Police Department Capt. Dale Riggs, a warning shot was fired into the ceiling as two medium-built men wearing hoods entered the store around 8 p.m. Tuesday demanding cash.
Police say the men snatched about $100, then fled town in a full-sized, light-colored (white or silver) sedan.
The suspects were followed by a witness who lost sight of them along Rineyville Road.
Riggs said the men could have been helped by a lookout person and getaway driver who may have been waiting in the car while the robbery was underway.
Surveillance video images show both men were armed with handguns.
One gun was a black semi-automatic handgun. The other was a chromed, short-barrel revolver.
Investigating Officer Rick Ledford said he thinks the suspects’ distinct apparel could help identify them.
The full police description of each suspect is as follows:
Gunman 1. White male between 5-foot, 8-inches and 5-foot, 10-inches tall of medium build wearing a light-blue hooded sweatshirt long black t-shirt, jeans with graphic designs on the right leg, dark shoes, white toboggan and brown gloves.
Gunman 2. White or Hispanic male between 5-foot, 8-inches and 5-foot, 11-inches tall of medium build wearing a black parka with fur-lined hood and orange lining, black ski mask, green shirt, blue jeans, tan/yellow shoes with black soles and white gloves.
