Rolling Thunder Inc. Chapter Four Kentucky’s monthly meeting was Oct. 7.
The chapter paid tribute and honored members for service in the Republic of Vietnam. Certificates were presented by Board Member Mike Hill to Paul Benkert, U.S. Navy, 1968-69; Larry Hill, U.S. Air Force, 1968; James Justice, U.S. Army, 1967-68; Jack Killion, U.S. Army, 1971; Ron Mudd, U.S. Marine Corps, 1967-68; Joe Newton Sr., U.S. Army, 1967-68 and also a Korean War veteran; Mike Temple, U.S. Army, 1968-69; the late Ron White USAF 1967-68, his wife, Sandy, received the certificate.
Member Katie Benkert received patches. New members Bill and Karen Hazelwood were welcomed into the chapter.
Upcoming events were discussed with a possible chili cook off in January or February. Charles Wachowski displayed a POW Banner of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. Chapter Four presented President Jim Justice with a farewell gift of a neon light for use in his pool room.
The chapter’s participation in the Lebanon Junction Old Fashion Days on Oct. 6 was discussed. The Rolling Thunder tent was set up and flyers of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, the only U.S. service member known to be held in Taliban captivity since June 30, 2009, were distributed. Beverages and other items also were sold at the event.
Monthly chapter business meetings are at 2 p.m. the first Sunday of the month. Refer to the website for the next meeting location, as the club is in the process of finding a new site. Meetings are open to the public. Dues are $30 per year and though many members are veterans and ride motorcycles, it is not a requirement.
