Ronald A. Skaggs, 54, died early Monday, Feb. 27, 2012, in a trailer house fire near Brush, Colo.
He was born Sept. 4, 1957, at Westover Air Force Base in Chesapeake Falls, Mass., to Otis and Jean (Lenning) Skaggs.
Ron graduated from North Hardin High School in Radcliff in 1975. He has lived in Morgan County in Colorado for some 35 years. He worked as a derrick hand and heavy equipment operator in the oil and gas exploration field. He enjoyed camping and fishing, shooting his pistol, listening to rock ‘n’ roll, and cooking Sunday dinners during Bronco season.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Debra K. Brautigam; one grandson, James (Jr.) Lloyd; and his father.
Survivors include his mother, Jean Skaggs of Radcliff; four children, Stacy Hart-Skaggs and her husband, Phil Knight, of Brush, Angela Miller and her husband, John, of Pisa, Italy, Chad Brautigam and his wife, Lisa, of Dallas, Texas, and Ian Brautigam and his wife, Jana, of Wiggins, Colo.; one brother, Donnie Skaggs of Columbia, Mo.; three sisters, Connie Hamill and her husband, Jim, of Kempner, Texas, Bonnie Mahanna and her husband, Bob, of Radcliff and Vonnie Rodgers and her husband, Ken, of Edmond, Okla.; and six grandchildren, Jessica Lloyd, Autumn Knight, Jacob Bennett, Austin Skaggs, Tyson and Layla Brautigam.
A memorial service was Thursday, March 8, at Heer & Dahl Mortuary Chapel in Brush. The service concluded at the mortuary.
