With the holiday shopping season about to go full swing, the Radcliff Small Business Alliance started a promotion to draw shopping dollars into member businesses.

The 5 for 5 promotion is meant to encourage shoppers to spend $5 in five RSBA member businesses for a chance to win $500. Cards used to keep track of the purchases can be picked up at any participating alliance member, board member John Flanagan said.

Flanagan said the idea originated from two RSBA members, Tamara Ohler and Pam Ogden-Crum, as a way to get customers into member’s stores.

“We have to figure out how to get people through the doors of these great little shops that we have,” Flanagan said.

With Small Business Saturday approaching, Flanagan admitted the promotion was fortunate coincidence.

“We just got lucky, we just happen to have this great promotion in advance of Small Business Saturday,” he said. “We’re not even a year old. We’re learning as we go.”

The promotion ends Dec. 16 and the drawing is Dec. 17, he said. About 95 small business members are participating. To view a current list of members, go to www.radcliffsba.com or find the Radcliff Small Business Alliance on Facebook.
