When this week ends, there will be, at most, six local high school baseball and softball teams left with a pulse to their seasons.

After next week’s regionals, there will be, at most, one baseball team and one softball team still standing.

For many it will be the close of their athletic careers.

But there will be another chapter closing as well. The moms and dads have braved bitter cold conditions in March and sweltering summer heat.
