Brushy Fork, part of local history

The political conventions are over, platforms are drawn and now excitement for the fall campaign builds nationally and locally. Since January of this year, in what began as a simple program outline drawn on the back of a receipt at Rafferty’s Restaurant between members of the Republican and Democratic party, now  has grown into monthly meetings at Vine Grove City Hall in presenting this year’s Brushy Fork Political Forum.

Representatives from all political parties involved in this year’s forum have brought innovative ideas to the table, an insert flyer in the newspaper, a discount food coupon redeemable at participating food booths,  door prizes, booths and tables representing each party, their platforms and candidates. On Saturday representatives and candidates for local, state and national races will present their cases to the public. This is an extraordinary occasion for our area in which voters may meet and greet elected officials and, most importantly, their challengers.

The Brushy Fork Political Forum is part of Vine Grove’s 53rd Annual Autumn Daze Festival  & Parade with an arts and crafts show, activities, vendors and a parade beginning  at 10 a.m. at the fire department and ending at Optimist Park. The Brushy Fork Political Forum begins at 1 p.m. at Vine Grove Optimist Park. There also will be a pet show courtesy of the Animal Refuge Center of Vine Grove and an opportunity to provide a loving home for a furry friend or politician.

Be part of local political history in the making.
