Gasoline prices have been at all time highs throughout the summer. Unfortunately, they’re likely to hover near $4 per gallon for some time locally because of recent hurricanes that disrupted production on gulf oil rigs and at coastal area refineries. Local unemployment has risen to 7.5 percent, up two percentage points from the same level a year ago and higher than the state average.
