Radcliff police are investigating a shooting at a Conroe Drive home after a dispatcher heard shots ring out during a 911 call.

Radcliff Police Department received a call around 9:30 a.m. from a woman reporting her husband expressed intent to harm himself, spokesman Bryce Shumate said.

The dispatcher heard a gunshot over the phone, Shumate said, after which the caller fled the home with her child.

According to Shumate, the dispatcher continued to hear shots on the 911 call after the woman left the residence at Conroe Drive off Blackjack Road in Radcliff.

When Radcliff and Kentucky State Police responded to the home, they discovered the man was unharmed.

“He walked out and came out to us,” Shumate said.

Because the incident is under investigation, Shumate did not release the man’s identity. However, he confirmed the man is active-duty military.

Hardin County EMS also responded Monday, but no injuries were reported, he said.

The man was seated in the back of a cruiser while investigators worked the scene. However, Shumate declined to comment on whether charges would be filed because of the ongoing investigation.
