Guest speaker at a recent Radcliff Rotary Club meeting was fellow Rotarian Linda Sims, district director of the Lincoln Trail District Health Department. Members were living with the outdated notion of the health department as the place for immunization records or a welfare agency. Sims explained her department had a $14 million dollar budget last year and is involved in a myriad of health services including disease surveillance, restaurant inspections, dietary assistance and more. The Department’s mission in short can be described as health promotion and disease prevention.
