Electricity and phone service to residences near Redmar Boulevard in north Radcliff are down and utility workers estimate the outage will continue for six hours.

Radcliff Police Department spokesman Bryce Shumate said it appears a semi truck hit a wire on Redmar, causing it to snap from a utility pole on the other side of the street. The truck fled the scene without notifying officials, he said.

Traffic lights at the intersections of Knox Avenue and North Wilson Road as well as U.S. 31W and Knox Avenue were affected by the incident,  but Shumate said power to those signals has been restored.

However, power and phone service have not yet been restored to homes in the area, he said. Shumate did not know how many residences were affected.
