Soldier apprehended for questioning in Fort Knox shooting

A soldier assigned to the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division has been apprehended for questioning in the shooting death of a U.S. Army civilian employee Wednesday afternoon on Fort Knox.

According to a news release from the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command, the soldier was apprehended in Tennessee by the Portland Police Department and CID agents.

The Portland Leader in Portland, Tenn. is reporting that the soldier's name is Marquinta Jacobs.

The shooting occurred at 5:40 p.m. Wednesday in a parking lot near the Human Resources Command headquarters on post, according to officials.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at Ireland Army Community Hospital.

The shooting forced Fort Knox to enter a full lockdown just before 6 p.m. Wednesday.
