It's time once again to offer praise where praise is due.
That starts with local young people who excelled at Boys State and Girls State. Sponsored by the American Legion, the programs mimic the operations of state government and provide first-hand learning experience for teenagers.
Hannah McCandless, a student at Elizabethtown High School, was elected governor of the 2012 Kentucky Girls State program by the 50 participants.
