HARDIN COUNTY — State officials are challenging Kentucky State Police troopers, detectives and dispatchers to outdo their peers in at other posts in collecting food for shelters, churches and other groups serving less fortunate people.
Dubbed “Cram the Cruiser,” the friendly competition pits each of KSP’s 16 posts against one another in collecting non-perishable food items.
“A few posts were already doing it on their own and the Commissioner saw it was a good thing so he decided to expand it statewide,” said KSP Post 4 spokesman Bruce Reeves.
The collection begins Sunday and Reeves said donations can be dropped at KSP Post 4 on the southwest corner of the U.S. 62/I-65 intersection. The drive will last about a week.
Reeves said the food collected will be distributed among groups that help the needy throughout Post 4’s eight-county service region.
