A Big Spring man was killed Saturday afternoon when a domestic dispute ended with a shooting, police say.

Joshua Babb, 32, sustained a gunshot to the head and was pronounced dead Saturday at his home by the Breckinridge County coroner, according to a news release from Kentucky State Police Post 4.

According to state police, Breckinridge County Dispatch received a call at 1:35 p.m. in reference to a domestic dispute with shots fired.

When troopers arrived, they found Babb dead and his wife, Ashley Babb, inside the residence, police said.

Norman Chaffins, spokesman for KSP Post 4, said Ashley Babb was inside the home at the time of the shooting, but she has not been arrested or charged.

According to Chaffins, the couple was estranged and troopers previously had responded to the residence concerning domestic arguments.

The investigation is ongoing, he said, and police have not determined how Joshua Babb was shot. Investigators have not ruled out a self-inflicted shooting, Chaffins said.

Autopsy results are pending.

Police were assisted Saturday by the Breckinridge County Sheriff’s Office and Breckinridge County EMS.
