Kentucky State Police Post 4 is investigating two early morning shootings in Hardin County, one of which involves a suspect who is on the run.

According to a news release, state police responded at 8:12 a.m. to the 16000 block of Rineyville-Big Spring Road in reference to shots fired.

A preliminary investigation revealed the shots came from Carolyn's Corner Store in Big Spring, police said. The suspect entered the store in an attempt to rob it, and a struggle ensued with the employee over the suspect's weapon.

According to police, the employee was shot in the arm and the suspect fled.

Police describe the suspect as a white male wearing dark clothing and a white hoodie. He may have fled in a stolen dark blue 1998 Buick LaSabre.

The employee was taken to Hardin Memorial Hospital and later transferred to University Hospital in Louisville, where he is listed in serious but stable condition, police said.

State police also are investigating a trooper-involved shooting at the 6000 block of South Wilson Road in Radcliff.

According to a news release, a trooper responded at 6:33 a.m. in reference to a burglary in process.

Upon arriving, the trooper encountered two suspects and asked one to show his hands, police said. The suspect refused and produced a weapon, pointing it at the trooper.
