Hardin County will benefit from some of about $3.1 million in state grants being distributed this year to go to improvements of short line railroads in 12 counties.
Improvements include replacement and rehabilitation of rails, rail beds and railroad crossings.
Two of the grants being given to the Paducah & Louisville Railroad include $1 million for a bridge replacement at Muldraugh, $39,150 to rehabilitate a railroad crossing on Ky. 1646 in Elizabethtown and $34,740 to rehabilitate a crossing on Ky. 920 in Leitchfield.
