A bloodthirsty plant takes root at the Historic State Theater on Thursday when “Little Shop of Horrors” arrives, but admission to the movie won’t feed on the wallets of patrons.

Admission to the 7 p.m. showing is free.

“Little Shop of Horrors,” a 1960 cult classic, stars Jonathan Haze, Jackie Joseph and Mel Welles. The movie also includes actor Jack Nicholson in a small role early in his career.

The plot of the movie involves a clumsy young man who nurtures a plant only to discover it is bloodthirsty, forcing him to kill to feed it.

Doors to the theater open at 6 p.m.

Concessions are available.
