Hello friends, I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I know I had a lot to be thankful for.

I would like to wish my oldest sister, France Cook, a belated happy birthday and hope she has many more.

SYMPATHY. I would like to give my sympathy to the Maefeen Love family. It’s just been a couple of weeks ago that I spoke with Betty, Maefeen’s only daughter, about her health and I know this is a hard time when you lose your last parent. As Betty said on Facebook, now her mother is hearing and speaking for the first time in Heaven with her family who had gone before her. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. May God bless all of you through this hard time.

FUND-RAISER. The fundraiser for Norma Taylor is from 5 to 9 p.m. Dec. 7 at Lakewood Elementary School. Cakes, pies or any new or almost new items for the auction will be greatly appreciated.

SCHOOL NEWS. Lakewood will have its fair Nov. 26 through 30; the Butterbraid Fundraiser ends Nov. 28 and Nov. 29 is ABC night. For information, call 862-4516.

Lakewood Elementary P.T.T will host a fun-filled night for the entire family, donkey basketball.

Come out and watch staff, principals and students from Lakewood Elementary, West Hardin Middle and Central Hardin compete in a game of basketball while riding donkeys. Some of the riders will be Mrs. Clark and Mr. Williams, both principals from Lakewood, Mrs. Cook and Mr. Thomas, principal at West Hardin, Mr. Robbins, Mr. Pike, Mrs. Nickell, Mrs. Branger and Bud Baumgardner of Hardin County Sheriff’s Office, just to name.

All proceeds from the event will be used to make improvements to Lakewood Elementary School playground. Concessions will be sold. In addition, desserts will be sold and all proceeds from this will benefit Sydney Dover’s family.

The event is Dec. 3. Games start at 7 p.m. and the doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $6 in advance and $8 at the door. Children four and younger are free.

Advance tickets are being sold at Lakewood Elementary or by calling 862-4516. Checks should be made payable to Lakewood Elementary P.T.T. Tickets are limited, so order early.
