Stephensburg
Betty Pullen, 862-4844
Hello friends. As always, I hope everyone is doing well. I know I am feeling much better knowing spring is just around the corner. I am seeing more spring-like birds and once in a while I hear a spring song, well maybe a chorus. But it’s good to hear the sounds of spring coming.
BIRTHDAY WISHES. I want to wish two dear friends a happy birthday, Emily “Emials” Embery and Sarah Staples. Sarah rides on my bus as monitor and is married to Jerry Staples. They have two children, Robin and Billy, and two grandsons, Justin and Jared. May you have many happy days ahead.
Emily well, she holds a special place in my heart we go way back. There were times we would talk way up into the night as kids we would go to bed about 7:30 p.m. and talk until about 8 p.m. Back then, that was a late time to be up. Happy birthday and I wish you all the good things life can bring and many happy days ahead.
SYMPATHY. As most of you know, Robert Pence’s wife, Delores, has been sick for many years but just has passed on. She was a teacher in Grayson County, where she retired. I know Robert will miss her greatly; he was by her side the whole time during her final days here. Robert may God bless you with all you need and keep you strong.
BENEFIT. A memorial benefit auction is from 1 to 3 p.m. March 10 at the Stephensburg community building. There will be food and a silent auction. The benefit is in memory of Lisa Tucker Doloway. Lisa was in the West Hardin High School Class of 1977. The money raised will be sent to a family that Lisa met when in Texas for treatment. When Lisa learned her treatment would be $4,000 and she did not have the money, Sean’s O’Flynn’s mother gave Lisa the money for the treatment of brain cancer. Lisa has passed away, but now The O’Flynn family could use some help. Sean needs to travel form Ireland back to Texas for a new treatment. I think this was amazing that the family from Ireland helped a Kentucky girl. So if you can, come out and support this event or make a donation or whatever your heart tells you to do. For information, call Theresa Tucker McClure, (859) 509-8372, or Tim Smallwood, 862-9768.
STEPHENSBURG DAY. There will be a meeting at 7 p.m. the last Thursday of March at the Stephensburg community building, the old school house. This meeting is important to the community. Everyone is welcome to attend. We need your help and your support to have a Stephensburg Day.
SCHOOL NEWS. There is no school on March 11 for the kids, but some of us have to work that day.
