For most of those buying gas at American pumps, sticker shock is a common symptom. Although gas station operators get a lot of the blame, it’s not their fault, said Laura Blair, public relations manager at Newcomb Oil, which owns and operates Five Star stations.
“Contrary to popular belief, retail margins on gasoline are very thin,” Blair said.
