Supporting Locks of Love

Gillian Groomes, 11, holds 10.5 inches of her hair, which was donated to Locks of Love so that wigs can be made for cancer patients. Shirley Foley, master hair stylist with Hair Tech Salon in Elizabethtown, performed the cutting procedure. One year of hair growth was required for Gillian’s hair to reach the minimum donation length of 10 inches. Gillian, a former student at Helmwood Heights Elementary School, is now in the fifth grade in Oldham County Schools.
