Elizabethtown Fire Department officials are investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed an abandoned house Saturday.
Chief Mike Hulsey said the house, which sits near Woodland Drive and North Dixie Avenue, had probably been empty for 20 years or more. It had no electricity. Because of those factors, the fire is “suspicious,” he said.
No one was injured in the blaze.
Firefighters were called at around 5 p.m. Saturday to the area after several people phoned in saying they had seen smoke or other evidence of a fire, Hulsey said.
