SWIMMING: Dolphins finish fourth at U-12 state championships (07/23)

Dolphins win four event titles

The Elizabethtown Dolphins scored 843.5 points in 49 events to finish fourth out of 20 scoring teams over the weekend in the Swimville USA Kentucky Long Course 10-Under State Championships at the University of Louisville.

The Dolphins also won four events in specific gender, age, stroke and distance.

Individual state champions were Kennedy Campbell (girls’ 10-under 100-meter butterfly, 1:17.37), Madelyn Godfrey (girls’ 10-under 50 freestyle, 31.99) and Joseph Musante (boys’ 10-under 50-meter free, 30.88)

Campbell and Godfrey also teamed with Elizabeth Godfrey and Madeline Meredith to win the girls’ 10-under 200 free relay in 2:13.37.

Individual runner-ups included Savannah Kingery (girls’ 11-12, 400 free, 4:50.02), Musante (100 fly, 1:22.83; 100 free, 1:10.32; 50 fly, 34.36), Madelyn Godfrey (100 free, 1:09.70).

The girls’ 10-under 200 medley relay of Meredith, Mya Page, Campbell and Madelyn Godfrey was second in 2:34.54.

Madelyn Godfrey (third place, 122 points), Campbell (fourth, 117.5) and Elizabeth Godfrey (10th, 59) finished in the top 10 in individual scoring in girls’ 10-under.

Musante was third in boys’ 10-under scoring with 132 points, while Savannah Kingery was eighth in girls’ 11-12 scoring with 79 points.

The Dolphins will host the the Swimville USA Kentucky Long Course 13-Over State Championships from Thursday-Sunday at E-town Swim & Fitness Center. Except for Thursday (afternoon/evening only), times for the final three days are preliminaries at 8 a.m. and finals at 5 p.m.
