A tearful goodbye for soldiers, families

Spc. Tyler Schilling did not have family with him as he planned to depart Wednesday from Fort Knox for Afghanistan, but his father was a simple phone call away.
As the minutes ticked off the clock and the last moments with loved ones seeped away, Schilling leaned against a supply locker and called his father, congratulating him on his promotion to major at Fort Carson, Colo.
