A Tennessee man has been arrested in connection with Sunday's fire that destroyed Stonesview United Methodist Church.

Randy Shawn Matthews, 37, of Cowan, Tenn., is charged with second-degree arson and third-degree burglary.

Kentucky State Police say Matthews burglarized the church and then set fire to the building. Police say Matthews then stole a vehicle from a residence in the vicinity of the church and was apprehended in the vehicle by the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office and charged with being in possession of a stolen vehicle.

The investigation was a joint effort with the Kentucky State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives' arson task force.

Matthew was being held in the Daviess County jail awaiting extradition Wednesday to Grayson County.

Bail has not been set.
