Although once an important agricultural enterprise in Kentucky and Hardin County, our dairy industry has dwindled. June once was a time of major celebration in Hardin County as dairy farmers held parades and events at the mall; but now there are so few milking cows the resources to put on such events have declined. However, there still are 11 families who make their living and supporting their families providing milk for the rest of us. It’s hard work and very confining — cows take no days off and require attention at least twice a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
