An Elizabethtown man accused of kidnapping a woman is scheduled to see a jury trial today.
Elijah Lee Cothern, 26, was indicted in May on charges of kidnapping, theft by unlawful taking — automobile, fourth-degree assault and second-degree persistent felony offense.
According to Kentucky State Police, Cothern contacted a woman April 23 for a ride home from Boston. When she arrived, police said the defendant took control of the vehicle and drove all night at high speeds through Hardin, LaRue, Nelson and Bullitt counties.
In total, police said the woman was held captive inside her own vehicle for 12 hours.
Cothern is lodged in Hardin County Detention Center.
