KSP refer to scene as apparent murder, suicide

A Radcliff couple is dead following a fatal shooting incident inside a Radcliff home on Dogwood Drive off South Boundary Road.

Wendy Bays, 47, and her husband, William Bays, 50, suffered fatal gunshot wounds and were found dead around 9 p.m. inside their 190 Dogwood Drive home. The house is in a residential neighborhood near the southern edge of Radcliff.

Kentucky State Police Post 4 spokesman Jeff Gregory said their deaths appear to be a murder-suicide, but detectives are continuing to investigate. The Elizabethtown post was contacted at 9:01 p.m. in reference to the shooting, he said. Gregory said KSP believes William Bays made the initial 911 call stating he had shot his wife and intended to harm himself. Bays appeared to have taken his own life before police units arrived. Autopsies are to be done on the victims.

Also on the scene Thursday night were Hardin County Chief Deputy Coroner Kenneth Spangenberger, Hardin County EMS, Hardin County Sheriff's Office and Radcliff Police Department.
