By BOB WHITE bwhite@thenewsenterprise.com   ELIZABETHTOWN – A trunk filled with costly tools stolen from a construction company was recovered and two men were arrested after a short police chase early Tuesday. According to Elizabethtown Police Department spokesman Virgil Willoughby, a city cop was patrolling U.S. 62 when he saw a silver Pontiac leaving the parking lot of the Division of Buildings and Grounds with an open trunk.

As the officer turned around to stop the suspicious vehicle, the Pontiac made a brief attempt to flee northward on Kentucky Drive before stopping for the pursuing officer. Finding professional power saws, water pumps and jack hammers inside the car matching the description of items stolen from ADCO Construction & Excavating Co. on Corporate Drive, Officer Matt Coogle arrested the driver, Robert T. Walrath, a 23-year-old Elizabethtown man, and Vah C. Loi, a 20-year-old from Mount Washington at about 2 a.m.

Both were charged with felony theft, with Walrath also being charged with numerous traffic violations stemming from his brief attempt to elude.   Bob White can be reached at (270) 505-1750.
