ISSUE: Dropout age increases to 18
OUR VIEW: Interventions most important
Area school officials were quick to show support for increasing the dropout age from 16 to 18 as Elizabethtown Independent, Hardin County and LaRue County boards of education held votes adopting the policy as soon as was possible.
Educators across Hardin and LaRue counties have supported the move for some time, though a race to claim a $10,000 grant for implementing plans certainly fueled the adoption of the policy in dozens Kentucky school districts.
