The U.S. Army’s 233rd Transportation Company is headed to Iraq for a yearlong deployment.
Soldiers from Fort Knox will depart Monday.
They will link up in Kuwait with other elements of the 233rd, which are now at Fort Benning and Fort Stewart, both in Georgia.
An Army spokesman said the unit will provide heavy lift transport for equipment and vehicles throughout Iraq.
About 80 percent of the unit’s Soldiers already have combat experience.
